Wassaic General Store

Wassaic General Store is a health food store which also functions as a Co-op for Family Farms and CSA’s. We have a library and reading space, sell books whose authors live in Amenia, and keep a large bear, Sacha, who sits at the table to teach chess to children.

We are located at  #4 Main Street, Wassaic Hamlet, NY,  one of the historic hamlets of Amenia, NY. It is on the Railroad, two hours north out of Grand Central Station. There is a short half mile walkway from Wassaic Railroad Station (which is now the end of the line) southward to the Hamlet of Wassaic.  We are open daily 2:30 ’til 6 PM, and the telephone landline number is (845) 373-7735.

Also adjacent on this short Main Street is the Maxon Mills Grain Elevator, which has become the “Wassaic Project,” an art gallery. There is also “The Lantern Inn” for food and drink, as well as the Ariel’s Vitsky Bakery.
