The Flying Church Coffee House was built from scratch in 2019 just before the pandemic and painted yellow that year. The owner and roaster Paul Joffe was also the builder and designer of the building. If you don’t like yellow he’s to blame. The Flying Church itself was restored and rebuilt by the same person from 2014 thru 2020 and is the oldest church in Great Barrington having been originally constructed in 1845 as a Methodist church. Great care has been taken to preserve and restore the church while adding modern safety systems and space. The steeple was custom restored with local wood & New York/Vermont slate, among the very best slate in the world. The slate steeple and the Coffee House have details of copper trim & gold leaf, designed and erected by the roaster of your beans.
