The gallery was opened in 2002 and has shown prestigious artists such as Pulitzer prize-winning photographer Craig Walker who exhibited his Afghanistan series which remains important today. Marilyn Kalish’s – “Lady Macbeth” was acquired by Shakespeare & Company. Also exhibited in the gallery, Leonard Baskin, Barry Moser, and painter Alice Neel to name a few of the selected artists. The list of clients has reached over 3,000 people from all over the world including Europe, New York, Los Angeles, and Boston. While Covid became a challenge for the gallery, due to the closing location lockdown – the gallery has been able to sustain. Marilyn Kalish attributes one of the reasons for the success of the Vault Gallery to her appointment to the Historic District Commission, which created an opportunity for the gallery to become connected with the community. Kalish’s work was invited into Art Basel in Miami, which introduced a new audience to the gallery. The gallery has often been recognized by international publications as a must-see in the Berkshires.
