Berkshire Grown supports and promotes local food and farms as a vital part of the Berkshire community, economy, and landscape. Our motto is Keep Farmers Farming and we do that in a number of ways: we connect the community with local farmers and food producers and extend the buying season at our eight monthly winter farmers markets. Our Farm to Food Access and Share the Bounty programs purchase fresh food from local farms and, working with other local nonprofits, we distribute it to community members facing food insecurity. Berkshire Grown publishes the annual Guide to Local Food & Farms, and send monthly e-newsletters that explore topics relevant to local agriculture. We support sound agricultural practices by organizing farmer workshops and 1:1 technical assistance to farmers, and we advocate for sound agricultural policies that support resilient local food systems and resource-sharing to help build a thriving local food economy.
