BerkShares Info Session for Farmers

Last Monday, Sharon Wyrrick of Many Forks Farm in Clarksburg and the BerkShares team held a virtual meeting for farmers on the upcoming launch of digital BerkShares local currency. The event was an opportunity to discuss the the launch of digital BerkShares and what it means for our communities’ farms and farmers. We asked participants about their local suppliers and other businesses they’d like to see accepting BerkShares, so that local currency received by farms like yours can be easily recirculated. We received great feedback from participants and welcome additional comments. Thank you to Sharon for convening this meeting! The recording of this event is now available and can be accessed below or be clicking here.

About digital BerkShares
Rolling out mid-March, digital BerkShares (B$) will bring a local, cost-effective alternative to mobile payment apps like Venmo. The value of Digital BerkShares will be fixed 1:1 to the US Dollar, and digital BerkShares will be fully backed by dollars on reserve at Lee Bank and Salisbury Bank. Digital BerkShares will be free to accept and spend, and can be redeemed for U.S. Dollars at anytime by participating merchants for a modest 1.5% exchange fee. Sign up your business here!

Incentive for Farmers
Thanks to the generosity of a local donor, we’ll be giving away B$20 free to local farms, farm employees, restaurants, restaurant staff, and food pantries upon downloading and setting up the app, thereby fostering greater local exchange!
